style: what clothes/accessories I'm searching for in spring & summer 2023

here are 10 items that I am on the look out for right now. By no means is this a comprehensive list, and it's incredibly likely I won't have added all of these to my wardrobe by fall '23. However, these are all pieces that I have found myself looking for while I'm shopping or browsing online.
I feel like 2023 is the year that I am prioritizing my own tastes and trying to rely less on trends. I'm honestly copying my mom's style when I was a kid, but doing it my way. Currently I am really embracing color back into my wardrobe. After high school I really stayed in our uniform color palette (maroon, black, white, tan, navy), but I'm coming to the realization that the bright colors I wore as a kid are more suited to my complexion as opposed to the dark/vampy vibe I was rocking in college. Don't get me wrong, I still adore a neutral base- but instead of black we're thinking creams and whites and browns, and I think it's time to bring in some color!!! idk but we're making it happen.
It's been a slow and intentional transition, because in addition to wanting to change my wardrobe theme in general, I've graduated college and now need professional wardrobe as well.
1- white linen pants
I love a wide leg trouser, it's flattering on almost anyone, and they are comfy af while also having a sophisticated look. They fall perfectly into that masculine silhouette that is all the rave in Swedish/Norwegian fashion- and with the linen they will be a great choice of pant during the hot season. I also think that these can be work appropriate as well with the correct styling!
Outside of the aesthetics and wearability, I linked this pair/brand because I want to be a resource for my tall girls! I have spent the majority of my life being H E A V I L Y disenfranchised with fashion and it's industry as a whole because of how limited my options were as a tall and curvy teenager. but guess what, times are changing! There are options for us, now more than ever, and I'm not going to choose to be disappointed in my clothes anymore.
2- black a-line skirts
Another brand that caters to all of us tall women!! I have been searching for an a line black wool mini-skirt all winter, but I am not a big fan of embellishments and distracting pockets/buttons, so I haven't found anything that a) was a simple a line fit, b) was wool, and c) didn't look like it would cover only half of my butt checks. Since the seasons are changing I'm editing my search a little bit, nixing the wool- and I've found a linen alternative!
I actually already ordered this from Princess Polly earlier this week but realized once it came that I ordered a size 0 instead of a 10. So... I'll lyk my thoughts when I rectify that mistake.
3- blouses
So these are definitely on the pricey side of blouses, but I'm at the point in my life where I'm okay with splurging now and then on a good quality blouse that I promise myself I'll wear again and again. I've linked three Free People blouses that are a little more boho and whimsical vibes (& COLOR).
I've always been a fan of gold and navy and these tops are givingggggg.
I am currently OBSESSED with anything backless. I think it's a beautiful and elegant way to show a little skin while being classy about it!
I know the first two tops that were linked were colors- and I can't deny my roots. I love a simple white shirt and denim combination. If I could choose my summer uniform- this would be it!
4- brown leather sandals -
does anyone else have a million options of black shoes- but are severely lacking in brown/tan options?
If you're looking for an alternative to the tried and true Birkenstock (clog or sandal), Madewell has a great leather section, I like the Natasha Platform for a casual option.
These are perfect for a dressier event, especially for someone who doesn't want to trip over their heels all night, I think they are a newer drop from Steve Madden for this spring, and are on my short list of brown heels to buy- I already have a pair of strappy brown heels but they are much taller than these and are pretty uncomfortable...... much to think about.
I love the vintage feel these shoes have, I could see these worn with jeans or simple sundresses.
7- cardigans
Just picked up this cardigan from @belovedtheshop, and I have already received so many complements since. The "Layla" Cardigan from Beloved is thick and warm, making it the perfect cardigan to get you and your outfit through these transitional days from winter to spring.
I have yet to see a brand embody the "put together French girl" aesthetic more astutely than sezane. Their Gaspard cardigan is a reversible, classic piece that comes in one million colors. It's a capsule wardrobe must have, and the color of one above?! stunning, gorgeous, flawless
9-cowboy / knee high boots
These cowboy boots from Free People are one of those inaccessible price points that humble me as a consumer. It is safe to say that I will not be purchasing this pair of cowboy boots. But I f*cking want them. They are *chef's kiss* and I'll being looking for their less expensive twins (also, is anyone else obsessed with red cowboy boys??? sigh, that's not very capsule wardrobe of me though)
Love a good brown boot!
10- sundresses

A++ (fun back, neutral colors, simple pattern) I loveeeee sundresses, not only something like this but simple silhouettes and colors. I personally want to buy this for my cousin Emilie's wedding, but idk about having a pattern.
... and that completes my run down of what fashion items I'm searching for right now! This list is me trying to stay away from trendy items I know I'll be throwing away a year from now, (idk about cowboy boots tbh but I'll force myself to wear them idc) but some trends that I've seen and am loving are maxi denim skirts, colorful quilted jackets, and anything backless.
